The Suburban Review published the work of 43 writers and artists in 2022, and you can see it all right here in our TSR 2022 bundle.
We began the year with the bright-eyed optimism of a freshly squeezed TSR #25: JUICE. In this issue, contributors explored liquid pleasures, fluid forms beyond the human, sticky desires, and stickier contradictions across political and cultural life. TSR #26: REVEL offered many moments of celebration, of joy, and of pleasure—from the party to the pool, and from the church to the gym—alongside reflections on the more ambivalent conditions which can ripple beneath these things. In TSR #27: WEEDS, we published speculation, critical reflection, and reparative engagement with ideas that grow wherever they’re planted, or can take root. Whether fugitive, forgotten, or forthright, the stories told in this issue animated our own suburban surrounds anew. Finally, in TSR #28: LEAVEN, we rose again to share a multi-disciplinary collection of works which ferment, transform, and transfigure the worlds that they imagine. An expansive issue in many senses of the word, it also saw us publish works in a wider array of forms than ever before.
Our contributors in 2022 have included emerging writers and artists with their first publication, established and admired figures on the Australian literary scene, international peers, and our brilliant editorial team. We thank them all for their work, and hope you’ll enjoy it!
