Stuart Barnes was born and grew up in Hobart and lived in Melbourne for seventeen years before moving to Rockhampton. His first book, Glasshouses (UQP, 2016), won the Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize, was commended for the Anne Elder Award, and was shortlisted for the Dame Mary Gilmore Award. From 2013 to 2017, Stuart was poetry editor of Tincture Journal. In 2018 he guest-edited, with Quinn Eades, Cordite’s TRANSQUEER issue. From 2017 to 2019, he was a program advisor for Queensland Poetry Festival. Stuart’s poetry has recently appeared in Island, POETRY(Chicago), and Rabbit. He’s currently working on his second poetry collection, Form & Function.
